Remediated PDF Document

Project Overview

A remediated PDF document is one that has a title, language and reading order identified. Most importantly it is a document that has tags, which enable assistive technology users to navigate through the document using structure elements like headings, lists and paragraph text.

The Appendix 1 Form Medical Report document below is a PDF document that was not tagged for accessibility in its original design. Additionally, the document did not include editable form fields, which were added as part of the remediation process. This project consisted of the following steps:

  1. Adding fillable form fields to the document

  2. Auto-tagging to generate content tags

  3. Adjusting auto tags to ensure structural compliance

  4. Document property adjustments

  5. Accessibility reporting

The result is a tagged or remediated document that meets WCAG 2.0 AA compliance and PDF/UA standard.
